Stablecoins on the Regulator’s Radar

February has been dominated by conversations about digital finance regulation. I took part in a GFSC Digital Forum roundtable looking specifically at stablecoins — yield, reward structures, and how a regulator squares consumer protection with genuine innovation. It’s encouraging to see the GFSC engaging this directly rather than waiting for the rest of the world to set the pace.

Alongside that, I attended a workshop for IoD Guernsey on “Innovation vs. Risk” — a theme that keeps coming up whichever hat I’m wearing that week, whether that’s Alnistar client work, the Chamber, or Innovate Guernsey. Guernsey’s advantage has always been its ability to move fast on regulation without cutting corners, and 2026 feels like the year that gets tested properly.

More on this as the licensing conversations progress. Busy start to the year.
